COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Bubba Derby and two relievers combined on a four-hitter to lead the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to a 6-1 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes on Monday afternoon.

The 'Cakes came up short in their bid for the first series sweep of the season.

Brian Anderson gave New Orleans an early 1-0 lead with a home run on the first pitch of the second inning. It was Anderson's seventh in 26 games at Triple-A, and his 21st overall to pace all Marlins minor leaguers.

After Cal Towey followed with a double, Derby settled in to retire the next nine in a row, and held the Baby Cakes hitless until departing with two outs in the sixth. Wily Peralta gave up one hit in 2.1 innings of relief, and David Goforth worked a scoreless ninth to hand New Orleans only its second defeat in the last nine games.

Derby (3-0) won for the first time in seven starts.

The Sky Sox answered Anderson's homer with three runs in the bottom of the second. William Cuevas issued back-to-back walks leading off the frame and Nate Orf singled to load the bases. Mauricio Dubon plated a pair with a single to left, and Rene Garcia's ground out brought home another run.

Colorado Springs sat on its 3-1 lead until the seventh, when Hunter Cervenka forced in a run on a bases-loaded walk to Ivan DeJesus, Jr., and the Sky Sox tacked on two more runs an inning later against Kyle Lobstein courtesy of Garcia's single up the middle.

Cuevas (2-5) gave up three hits and four runs in 6.2 innings to take the loss. The right-hander walked four and struck out two.

The Baby Cakes open a four-game home series against the Round Rock Express on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
