Well-known local chef Jay Ducote always puts on a good show, and we're sure it will be no different when the East Baton Rouge Parish Library hosts "Stir the Pot with Jay Ducote" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, on Facebook Live.
Ducote, who has appeared on "Food Network Star," "Chopped," "Cutthroat Kitchen" and "Beat Bobby Flay," recently came out with a new cookbook, "Jay Ducote's Louisiana Outdoor Cooking," written with Cynthia LeJeune Nobles and published by LSU Press.
In the show, Ducote will talk about his book, which includes over 150 recipes, from entrees to desserts, and cook his Pork and Brussels Sprouts Cast-Iron Bake. You can cook along with him at your home or just watch live to enjoy the show and ask questions. To attend the online event, visit Facebook.com/EBRPL. This show will be recorded and can be watched later.

Raising Cane's helps out
Communities across Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas devastated by two recent hurricanes will receive $100,000 in much-needed relief funds following a Sept. 22 fundraiser by Raising Cane's.
Raising Cane’s restaurants throughout the region raised more than $95,000 by earmarking 15% of the day’s sales to the effort. The company added the remaining funds to bring the total to $100,000.
Checks will be presented to three local American Red Cross chapters and SBP Disaster and Resilience & Recovery, a Louisiana-based organization whose mission is to shrink the time between disaster and recovery.
