Flower girl Anna Clare Bourque, 8, looks down at her basket of rose petals during the Fete-Dieu du Vermilion Wednesday, August 15, 2018, in Milton, La. The Diocese of Lafayette holds the Eucharistic Procession every year to mark the Feast of the Assumption. The procession was held this year on the Vermilion River, rather than the Teche as in years past, as part of the celebration of the diocese's centennial anniversary. About 50 boats and hundreds of riders participated in the procession, carrying flags representing each church in the diocese up the Vermilion River from Abbeville, stopping in Milton and making two stops in Lafayette to pray the Rosary and hold the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. At the final stop, participants walked to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for vespers and mass.
