Southern Stone Indoor Climbing, formerly Rok Haus, will reopen Saturday at 109 Grand Ave. with a celebration commemorating 20 years of rock climbing in Lafayette.

The grand reopening will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with normal rock climbing business hours beginning at 3 p.m.

St. Mary boating course

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is conducting a boater education course from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Patterson Area Civic Center.

Sheriff’s Lt. Ross Mire will teach the course, which is mandatory for boaters born on or after Jan. 1, 1984. Boaters that age must carry proof of completing the course when operating a motorboat pushed by engines with 10 horsepower or greater.

Bluesberry Festival

The sixth annual Bluesberry Festival kicks off at 5 p.m. Saturday at 525 Garfield St.

The event combines a cook-off featuring blueberry dishes and blues music as a fundraiser for worthy causes. This year’s festival will benefit AMI Kids of Acadiana and Lafayette.

Acadiana chefs and cooking teams will compete with unique blueberry dishes. At 9 p.m., one competing restaurant and one chef will be awarded as winners.

Barbecue will be sold as part of the benefit. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Kids 12 and under get in free.

There also will be a “Best Dressed in Blue” contest, so event organizers encourage attendees to wear their blues.

Life choices program

Womans Foundation Inc. in Lafayette is holding its Life Choices program Wednesday and Thursday morning for teens and preteens.

The program runs 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day at the foundation’s offices, 4630 Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Organizers say the classes address choices confronting girls and is based on the book “The 6 Most Important Decisions You’ll Ever Make” by Sean Covey.

Participants will receive a copy of the book and a writing journal for the class.

Energy Workshop

The Acadiana Spiritual Association is hosting its Energy Workshop at 3 p.m. Saturday at the South Branch of the Lafayette Public Library.

The workshop is mandatory for association members. Others are welcome to join the association to improve chakra balancing, energy awareness, attractions-repulsion techniques and to learn which crystals to use for specialized energy work.
