Deputies arrested one Opelousas man and are searching for two more in a Wednesday afternoon burglary on Olivier Road, according to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

A caller reported someone was trying to break into her home while her 10-year-old daughter and 19-year-old brother were home and hiding inside a room, the Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.

Investigators arrested 22-year-old Torian Lazard, of 919 Roseanne St. in Opelousas, as he ran from the scene of the reported burglary, where a window had been broken open, the release stated.

Another man was seen running away with Lazard, and investigators later determined a third individual had driven them all to the burglary scene, according to the release.

The release says deputies are looking for Elijah Alexander Richard, 20, of 500 Raymond St. Lot 10, and Desmond Richard, 25, of 847 Martin Luther King Dr., who are suspected in the crime.

All three are accused of counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and resisting arrest.
