An Alexandria man wanted in the killings of two males in Lafayette in late December was arrested Monday, officials said.

Tavis Jenkins, 21, was arrested without a fight in the Dec. 27 shooting at an apartment on Merchant Boulevard, Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton said.

A witness told detectives that Jenkins entered the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and shot a visitor who tried to escort him out and another man who was also in the apartment. A third person in the residence was not hit, Mouton said.

Antonio Means, 17, died from his injuries that day. Linton Batiste, 23, died Dec. 28, the next day, Mouton said.

On Monday, officers with the Lafayette Police Department and City Marshal’s Office arrested Jenkins at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

Mouton said detectives are continuing their investigation.
