LAKE CHARLES — The body of a Grand Lake man was found Monday morning after his car ran off the roadway near La. 385 and into Black Bayou, State Police said.
Michael Chase Fontenot, 30, was found about 300 yards from where State Police found his empty 2014 Chevrolet Malibu submerged in the bayou around 4 p.m. Friday, said Troop D spokesman Sgt. James Anderson.
Investigators determined Fontenot was speeding when he drove off the right side of the road, through a guard rail leading to the Black Bayou Bridge and down into the bayou “sometime last week,” Anderson said.
A toxicology sample was taken from Fontenot and will be submitted for analysis, Anderson said. The crash remains under investigation.
