BREAUX BRIDGE — The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office late Tuesday identified the three people shot to death and one critically wounded Tuesday night in what deputies are calling a domestic disturbance.
A news release identified the dead as Clifford Blanchard, 58; Leola Blanchard, 72; and Ashlynn Blanchard, 3. Scott Blanchard, 32, listed as injured, remains hospitalized, the release said.
The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 7:55 a.m. from Leola Blanchard of a disturbance her home on La Rue Angelle, according to Major Ginny Higgins, a spokeswoman for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
While still on the phone with dispatchers, she reported she had been shot by her husband, Clifford Blanchard, Higgins said.
The couple’s son, Scott Blanchard, made a second call to 911 reporting that he also had been shot by Clifford Blanchard, Higgins said.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a third person, Ashlynn Blanchard, 3, the daughter of Scott Blanchard, had also suffered a fatal gunshot wound, Higgins said.
She said Clifford Blanchard suffered a fatal gunshot wound in a struggle with his son following the shootings.
Higgins said the investigation is ongoing.
