The fatal shooting of a 44-year-old Opelousas man on Common Street early Tuesday led to the arrest later that morning of De’Angelo Rubin, 20, according to the Opelousas Police Department.
Police reported arresting Rubin, also of Opelousas, about 9 a.m., just hours after the 3 a.m. slaying of Kenric Jerome Castille. The victim had been shot multiple times and died on the scene, said Corey Leger, Opelousas Police Department spokesperson.
Rubin was taken into custody without incident on a count of second-degree murder, Leger said.
The investigation is ongoing.
