A Scott man accused of setting fire to a vehicle carrying his girlfriend and two children was arrested Wednesday night, according to the Scott Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to 304 Rue September, in the Cozy Acres Mobile Home Park, at 7:07 p.m., Scott Fire Chief Chad Sonnier said in a news release.
When firefighters arrived, they observed a female and two children walking away from the vehicle.
The female told firefighters that she and her boyfriend, 31-year-old Terrance Augustine, were involved in an argument when she entered the vehicle with her two children in an attempt to leave the area, Sonnier said.
Augustine then retrieved a gasoline can, pouring gasoline on the hood area of the vehicle, and lit the vehicle on fire, Sonnier said.
The victim and two children exited the vehicle and walked off while Augustine attempted to extinguish the fire, the fire chief said.
The vehicle sustained minor damage; no firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the incident, Sonnier said.
Augustine was taken into custody by Lafayette Parish sheriff's deputies and booked on a count of aggravated arson.
