Lafayette police investigate Rite-Aid robbery _lowres

Lafayette police officers were dispatched late Wedensday night to the Rite-Aid store at 4710 Johnston Street to investigate a reported armed robbery, according to a news release issued by Cpl. Paul Mouton of the Lafayette Police Department.

The incident was reported to the police department at approximately 11:50 p.m.

According to the news release, after the perpetrator entered the story brandishing a gun and demanding money, he was given an undisclosed amount of cash. He then fled the store via bicycle, traveling south on Johnston Street.

Witnesses described the man as a light-skinned black male in his mid-20s who was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt and black pants.

The robber was caught on video surveillance at the store.
