The Eunice Bobcats' boys basketball season is still on hold after being suspended indefinitely following a fight during a game against Washington-Marion on Jan. 13.

Although they are still awaiting a final ruling from the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, it appears as if both the Bobcats and Charging Indians' seasons are over.

Because of the suspension, the Bobcats have forfeited games against DeRidder and Leesville, while Washington-Marion have forfeited games against Rayne and LaGrange since the incident.

The remaining seven games for the Bobcats as well as the eight games left for Washington-Marion are all listed as canceled on the LHSAA web site.

The incident occurred during the second quarter of the District 3-4A game, when a player from each team got into a fight following the two going after a loose ball.

The Eunice Police Department said other players from the teams then joined the fight, followed by fans. The game was canceled in the second quarter.

The Lafayette Parish School Board has not commented on the matter. However, the Calcasieu Parish School Board said last week that they are “actively working with (the LHSAA) on providing anything requested for their investigation.”
