BREC’s Highland Road Park Observatory will host a Friday night lecture about how the search for exoplanets has changed in recent years.

In light of the discoveries made in recent weeks by the Kepler mission, the talk will look at what many consider to be the last days before there is absolute proof of an Earth-sized planet orbiting in a star’s habitable zone. Since the presentation was made less than three years ago, the number of confirmed exoplanets has doubled, according to the observatory’s website.

The talk will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the observatory. The talk will be followed by a star gazing session starting at 8:30 p.m. More information is available at
