Many people watched artist Jonathan Brilliant construct “The Red Stick Art Piece” of nearly 50,000 coffee stirrers at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum.

Now is your chance to see it all come down.

At 2 p.m. today, June 29, the LASM, 100 S. River Road, will host the live demolition of Brilliant’s piece in its Soupcon Gallery.

Brilliant’s artist residency was developed by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, with support from the Louisiana Art & Science Museum, LSU School of Art, and Baton Rouge Community College. Brilliant stacked, arranged and wove the coffee stirrers into a room-sized sculpture during a 10-day period.

Following the Tumble Down, the sticks will be donated to the talented art program at Glasgow Middle School for use as art supplies.
