LSU School of Music alumni might have noticed saxophonist Brad Walker appearing on the NBC show "Saturday Night Live." Walker appeared with a horn section to perform with rising country star Sturgill Simpson.

Simpson performed two songs, "Call to Arms" and "Keep It Between the Lines," from his latest album, "A Sailor's Guide to Earth." The critically-acclaimed album has been nominated for 2 Grammys — Album of the Year and Best Country Album.

Walker studied jazz at LSU. Before becoming part of Simpson's band, Walker moved from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to perform with heavy-hitters like Eric Lindell, Billy Iuso, and Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes.

In an interview last year with Walker, the sax-man said he has "spent five years preparing for a gig just like (the one with Simpson)."
