Louisiana Youth Cheerleading, an organization led by volunteer coaches, is offering Pretty Girls Rock Cheer and Dance Camp beginning Wednesday and running through June 23 at Howell Community Park Gymnasium, 5509 Winbourne Ave.

The free camp for girls ages 6 to 16 will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on June 23.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing such as T-shirt, shorts, socks, tennis-shoes, loose dance pants, tights, soft-soled shoes, flexible jazz shoes. No sandals or blue jeans allowed.

YWCA: Prevent pregnancy

YWCA is offering a free mini-camp for teen girls, ages 14-18, with a curriculum focusing on teen pregnancy prevention and HIV prevention.

The camp is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at 8281 Goodwood Blvd., Suite C.

Event has new date, location

The venue has been changed for a “Teen Violence Prevention and Self-Esteem Building” conference, originally scheduled for today, that has been moved to Saturday.

It will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at Hope Community United Methodist Church, 4260 Evangeline Street. Speakers will include Greg Meriweather, reporter from WAFB-TV; District Attorney Hillard Moore and Tawanda Green of the Baton Rouge chapter of the NAACP. There will be free home-cooked food and lemonade.
