Food museum to offer free admission Saturday _lowres


Marking its one-year anniversary all month, the Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans will host Member Appreciation Day on Saturday.

As a participating Smithsonian Museum member, SoFab will offer free admission for two that day through Museum Day Live!, courtesy of Smithsonian Magazine.

Lafayette author Dixie Poche (“Classic Eateries of Cajun Country”) will sign copies of her book from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Luke Deville, of Teet’s Food Store in Ville Platte, will give a food demonstration starting at 1 p.m., with samplings of boudin, hog’s head cheese and ponce.

The museum is located at 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.
