LAFAYETTE — Gabriel LXXIV Stuart Clark and Evangeline LXXIV Jasmine Abdalla, daughter of Elizabeth Abdalla and the late Harold Abdalla, reigned over the Grand Ball of the Greater Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Association Mardi Gras evening. The Heymann Performing Arts and Convention Center stage, depicting an interior palace ballroom scene, provided the backdrop as members of the royal court took their bows.

The ball began with the presentation of the krewe crest.

It was followed by the introduction of King Clark. A graduate to Loyola University and Tulane University Graduate School, he is vice president and senior financial adviser of the investment firm of Merrill Lynch.

His professional and civic involvement include the Rotary Club of Lafayette South, the St. Thomas More Foundation, the Lafayette General Surgical Hospital Executive Committee and the Alexandre Mouton House/Lafayette Museum.

He is married to the former Ann Kathryn Breaux and has three children.

Gabriel was followed by the queen, who was escorted by GSLMGA President Bill Johnson.

Her majesty Abdalla, an honor graduate of St. Thomas More High School, attends LSU, where she is majoring in kinesiology and is a member of Phi Mu sorority. She is the Sisterhood Development chairwoman of the freshman class, a member of Best Buddies and a participant in St. Jude fundraising for LSU. She is the granddaughter of Evelina Dejean Abdalla, the late Herbert Abdalla, Roma Hill Hepburn and the late John Van Fossen.

Serving as royal honor dukes to Gabriel LXXIV were Peter Piccione and Matt Galloway.

Royal dukes serving the king were Robert Billeaud, Robert Eddy, Jay Faugot, Richard Kennedy, Mark Lerille, Bruce Montesano, Chuck Mouton, Brian Patton, John Quoyeser and Jerry Reaux.

Presented as honor maids to the queen were Emily Mann, daughter of Randall and Stephanie Mann, and Jacqueline Foreman, daughter of Kevin and Lynette Foreman.

Maids to the queen were Elizabeth Adley, daughter of Michael and Kathleen Adley; Margaret Billeaud, daughter of Robert and Claire Billeaud; Kate Eddy, daughter of Robert and Toni Eddy; Elyse Faugot, daughter of Jay and Christie Faugot; Ryan Gambel, daughter of Karen Gambel and the late Chris Gambel; Diane Gremillion, daughter of Mark and Rae Gremillion; Emily Lerille, daughter of Mark and Jacquie Lerille; Amanda Montesano, daughter of Bruce and Stacy Montesano; Maggie Mouton, daughter of Chuck and Peggy Mouton; and Grace Reaux, daughter of Jerry and Renee Reaux.

Pages to the king were Matthew Broussard, son of Brad and Kathy Broussard, and Nicolas DelGreco, son of Anthony and Jeannie DelGreco. Pages to the queen were Jacob Trahan, son of Hunter and Ranae Trahan, and Steven Mahtook, son of Robert and Judy Mahtook.

When members of the court were assembled following the grand march, Tommy Hightower, Gabriel LXXIII, and Madison Montgomery, Evangeline LXXIII, were presented.

Members of The Ballet Studio, under the direction of Beverly Spell, performed “Barcelona Nights.” Court jester was Christine Beaullieu of The Lafayette Ballet Theatre, daughter of Paul and Jhan Beaullieu. Set design and construction for the ball were by Joel Theriot.
