Louisiana lags in microbreweries; Southern Craft bucks trend, debuts Red Stick Rye, Pompous Pelican _lowres

Baton Rouge has a new brewery.

Southern Craft, a microbrewery started by Joseph Picou and Wes Hedges, will officially release its beers Tuesday at a handful of local bars and restaurants throughout the afternoon and evening.

Below is a schedule of where Southern Craft will make stops. At each location, the microbrewery will offer samples of its two flagship beers — Red Stick Rye and a double IPA Pompous Pelican.

3:30 p.m. at Parrain’s (3225 Perkins Road)

4:30 p.m. at The Overpass Merchant (2904 Perkins Road) and The Chimes (3357 Highland Road)

5 p.m. at Walk-On’s (3838 Burbank Drive)

6 p.m. at The Pelican House (2572 Citiplace Court) and Happy’s (136 Third St.)

7:30 p.m. at Draft House Bar (421 Third St.)

8 p.m. at Corporate Brew & Draft (2561 Citiplace Court, Suite 300)

10 p.m. at The Bulldog (4385 Perkins Road)
