Each week The Advocate asks a different “quiz taker” for his or her current favorites in pop culture.
QUIZ TAKER: Amanda McKinney, 44, graphic designer, owner of Temple Design in St. Francisville.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: “I love all kinds of music but mostly listen to country, ’80s funk, and classic rock. But with teen/pre-teens now controlling my radio, I hear a lot of One Direction, Neon Trees, Mumford and Sons, All American Rejects and Katy Perry.”
WHAT I’M READING: “I started reading ‘Beautiful Creatures’ about two months ago, but I haven’t gotten very far, and I feel guilty every time I start reading it, because I should be staying on top of the reading for my Disciple I Bible study class. Prior to that, the last book I read was ‘Peach Keeper’ by Sarah Addison Allen. Work has been so busy that I really don’t have time for any leisurely reading.”
WHAT I’M WATCHING: “I record ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Nashville’ then watch them when everyone else goes to bed. ”
WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE? “I enjoy REALLY good beers with lots of flavor. I hide chocolate in my office for really stressful days.”
What is your favorite Christmas season tradition?
“I always look forward to Christmas in St. Francisville. We decorate the downtown historic district in white lights, and it’s just beautiful. The shops are bustling with activity.”
