I'm not one to immediately jump on the latest trend. I'm going to watch it for a few months before getting on board. That's what happened with overalls.
I kept an eye on this style over the summer and secretly wanted to try it but had no idea where to start. Fall, however, is the perfect time to put this fashion into play. Overalls come in all sorts of styles, so there is sure to be one that works for you.
When shopping for overalls, make sure the torso and leg proportion is correct so they fit properly. You'll also want a pair with adjustable straps.
The opportunities are endless as to what to wear underneath. The one stipulation is you probably want to leave the plaid and flannel shirts at home, unless you're going for that down-on-the-farm look. Stripes and chic blouses work well with this trend. A floral top underneath can add a bit of femininity to this masculine piece.
And while you might start wearing them now, overalls can easily transition to every season, especially colder temperatures. A leather jacket and long cardigan are great layering options.
Do not overthink your shoes when styling your overalls. Chunky sneakers and sandals are good options for any style. If you want to dress up a pair, choose a tapered leg rolled up and wear a pump for a chic look. Lace up boots and booties are ideal when styling overalls for fall.
Overalls are comfortable and can be a nice change from your favorite jumpsuits. They can work for anyone, and you can make them your own in the way you style them. There's really not a wrong way.
