Blue October copy for Red

Blue October

An alternative rock band from Houston will perform in the capital city later this year.

Blue October is set to play Thursday, May 10 at the Varsity Theatre. Doors open at 7 p.m. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at for $28 and will increase to $30 after doors open.

Led by vocalist/guitarist/producer Justin Furstenfeld, the band is wrapping up work on its ninth studio album, to be titled "I Hope You're Happy." A single from the record is due later this month.

In April 2016, the band released "Home," which charted at No. 1 on the Billboard rock albums chart. The title track spent more than six months on the Adult Top 40 song chart.

Though the band started in the mid-’90s, it wasn't until around 2006 that the band broke through with the hit single "Hate Me" from the album "Foiled." (This is the song with the chorus that goes: "Hate me todaaaayyyyy/Hate me tomorrooooowwww." Remember that one?) By 2007, the band had a platinum record and has continued to enjoy success with subsequent releases.
