Former Southeastern Louisiana University basketball player Nate “Big Easy” Lofton, a member of the Harlem Globetrotters since 2005, set a Guinness World Record for making the longest hook shot, the Globetrotters announced recently.
Lofton made the shot from 61 feet 4 inches, smashing the old record of 55 feet 9 inches, at the US Airways Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
“My signature move is the hook shot, so owning the world record for that is very special to me,” Lofton said.
A video of the shot can be seen online at youtube.com/watch?v=p9BPRUxkZ0s.
Lofton’s teammate, “Buckets” Blake, also set a Guinness record by sinking six underhanded halfcourt shots in a minute, breaking the old record by one shot.
