BE A SUMMER READER, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Baton Rouge — (225) 383-3928: Every summer the club provides enrichment programs to over 600 youngsters at eight sites around Baton Rouge. Volunteers can sign up to visit a site from 8:30-9 a.m. Monday through Thursday through July 7 to read a favorite story. Call to sign up. Must be 18 or older.

CHARITABLE THRIFT STORE ASSOCIATE, HIV/AIDS Alliance Region 2 (HAART) — (225) 424-1772: DJ’s Den provides clothing and household items to HIV+ individuals. Reliable volunteers are needed weekly to help manage, sort and organize. Must be 18 or older.

OFFICE HELP, Iris Domestic Violence Center — (225) 389-3002: The center needs volunteers to help out with general administrative tasks, such as mailers, general filing and other tasks. Must be 21 or older.

CASA VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION, Capital Area CASA Association — (225) 379-8598: Volunteers, especially men, are needed to join the association to speak up for children in foster care and to help them reach their forever families. Learn more during a 45-minute informational session, which starts at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 30. Must be 21 or older.

ENGLISH TEACHER FOR REFUGEES, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge — (225) 336-8700: A well-spoken and enthusiastic person is needed to assist in teaching English to new refugees. Knowledge of a foreign language is preferred, but not required as all classes are taught in English. Classes are held during normal office hours. It’s desirable for the volunteer to make at least a three-month commitment to teaching at least once a week. Must be 21 or older.

ST. JAMES DISASTER CASE MANAGEMENT, Capital Area United Way – (225) 346-5805: Capital Area United Way and the St. James Long Term Recovery Committee are looking for volunteers to provide case management to the residents of St. James Parish affected by the February 2016 tornadoes.
