Mid City Baton Rouge's food and beverage scene continues to boom. Another piece of evidence is the opening of Mid City Craft Wine and Brew.

Gabe and Jacob Daigle's wine and beer shop opened last week during the Hot Art, Cool Nights festival. The shop is located at 711 Jefferson Highway, Suite 1C, next door to Brew Ha-Ha! in the Goodwood Village shopping center.

Mid City Craft features a wide selection of family-owned wines as well as local, regional and harder-to-find craft beers. Behind the counter is a small selection of spirits.

In April, Gabe Daigle said that opening a shop was on his mind for awhile. When the space on Jefferson Highway became available, the brothers knew they couldn't pass up the opportunity.

"We wanted to be a part of the development that's going on here," Gabe Daigle said. "We're excited about being in this area."

To go along with the hangout vibes, the store is already hosting tasting events. Customers can expect to check out free wine tastings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays. This week's tasting features Spanish wines by Juan Gil. Next week's tasting will featured French wines with New Orleans distributor Uncorked.

Business hours at Mid City Craft Wine and Brew are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m Thursday-Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
