LE FESTIVAL DE LA VIANDE BOUCANÉE DE LA LOUISIANE: Northside Civic Center, Ville Platte. This festival showcases local smoked meats including sausage, tasso, pounce bourée, deer, pig and rabbit. Music runs both days, and arts and crafts booths and beauty pageants are slated.


BIRDFOOT FESTIVAL: Various locations, New Orleans. Seven days of live chamber music, parties, dinners, mentoring programs and more.

GHEENS BON MANGÉ FESTIVAL: Vacherie-Gheens Community Center, Gheens. This festival offers Cajun dishes and sweets, live entertainment, children’s rides, a truck, car and bike show, and a live auction.


BATON ROUGE ARTS MARKET: 8 a.m. to noon, Fifth and Main streets, downtown Baton Rouge. Monthly open-air market featuring wares from regional and local artists, held in conjunction with Red Stick Farmers Market. Free.

SOUTHERN LOUISIANA CHAMPIONSHIPS: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Parc International, downtown Lafayette. Single-day, multi-event fitness competition. Proceeds donated to D.R.E.A.M. foundation of Acadiana.

BICYCLE SAFETY FESTIVAL: 9 a.m. to noon, Parc Putnam, 813 Lafayette St., Lafayette. Family-fun day with bike safety course, giveaways, food, drinks and live music. Free.

MOMS NIGHT — SUMMER SOIREE: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Old Governor's Mansion, 502 North Blvd., Baton Rouge. Red Stick Mom's Blog hosts the fifth annual event, which features food, shopping and dancing. $50 and up.


NEW ORLEANS OYSTER FESTIVAL: Woldenberg Park, 1 Canal St., New Orleans. The bivalve gets the star treatment at this festival, being showcased in a stellar mélange of dishes and as the backdrop for some rocking good music.

COQUILLE PARK JUNEFEST: Coquille Park and Recreation Center, 13505 La. 1085, Covington. Indoor arts and crafts festival. $5.

CAJUN HEARTLAND STATE FAIR: Noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Cajundome, 444 Cajundome Blvd., Lafayette. The 30th annual event features carnival rides, food and music.


FÊTE DU VIN: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Juban's Restaurant, 3739 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge. A premium tasting event featuring wines from around the world and food from local chefs. $125 and up at


LOUISIANA CORN FESTIVAL: Lake Street, Bunkie. Rides, food, music, sports tournaments, pageants, parades and cooking competitions are part of this festival.
