Fall is finally here, and to go along with the great weather this weekend, there will be some amazing performances happening in the area. A variety of local and national musical acts, and even a neon paint party, guarantees that this will definitely be a weekend that shouldn’t be missed!

Duran Duran with Neon Trees

Head to the River Center Arena on Friday, Oct. 7, to catch Duran Duran with special guest Neon Trees. Known as one of the most successful bands of the 80s, Duran Duran is an English band that became a top-ranked band in the U.S. Their hits “Girls on Film” and “Hungry Like the Wolf” have been played since the beginning of MTV’s launch, which ultimately changed the history of music forever.

Neon Trees is a newer, alternative rock band. Their latest hit, “Animal,” has reached No. 1 on U.S. charts. Witness these two bands mix new and old as they come together on stage at the Baton Rouge River Center.

Well-known band Hinder will be performing at the Varsity Theatre this weekend. Their hit songs “Lips of an Angel” and “Use Me,” were both in the Top 5 on U.S. charts. Their rock sound is simply mesmerizing. Mix this with their entertaining stage presence and this will be an unforgettable show.

Jamey Johnson

Influenced by artists such as Hank Williams Jr. and Alabama, Jamey Johnson has a sultry country voice and an eclectic mix of country music sounds. This singer/songwriter actually co-wrote Trace Adkins’ hit “Honkey Tonk Badonkadonk” and George Straight’s “Give it Away,” in which he won a Country Music Award. Be sure to check out this up-and-coming star at the Texas Club in Baton Rouge on Friday, Oct. 7.

Ugli Stick

Things could get a little Ugli at the Roux House on Saturday, Oct. 8 as the Ugli Stick takes the stage. This Mobile, Ala. band has been writing and performing together for over 10 years and easily merges rock, hip-hop, funk and reggae into one unique package. Ampersand in New Orleans

Ampersand is a stylish two-level club in New Orleans that features some of the coolest parties in the area. The club is known for its amazing DJs and performing artists such as Lil’ Wayne. It has also been voted Best Dance Club multiple times and Best Music/DJs. Join the top-rated DJ band, Savoy, at this weekend’s Neon Glow paint party.
