Gov't Taco, the upcoming restaurant from Baton Rougean Jay Ducote that will be located in the White Star Market, has announced who will be its executive chef and general manager.
Chef Aimee Tortorich has been named executive chef. Therese Schneider has been named general manager. In going with the government theme, Tortorich is "commander in chef," and Schneider is the "majority whip."
Ducote, "the founding father" of Gov't Taco, said in a press release that both are "seasoned culinary vets with strong records in the arenas of taste, flavor and creativity."
Gov't Taco is set to open by the end of summer in White Star Market on Government Street in Mid City Baton Rouge.
Before it opens, Gov't Taco will host a number of pop-ups around town to give customers a taste of what's to come.
A Cinco de Mayo style pop-up will be held at Tin Roof on Friday, May 5 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Gov't Taco will also be at Slash Creative from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, May 12 as part of Hot Art, Cool Nights. On Sunday, May 28, the restaurant will take over The Overpass Merchant from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
