Chef turned travel TV host Anthony Bourdain spent three days in Lafayette in February filming a Cajun-themed episode of his CNN show Parts Unknown, according to a report by PEOPLE magazine.
His go-to indulgence all three of those days? Popeyes fried chicken.
“To me, Popeyes is exotica,” he tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue, on newsstands Friday. “I was eating noodles and roast goose and Chinese food for the past 10 days. So to be back and eat some Americana food, well, I will weep with gratitude at macaroni and cheese.”
Popeyes fanatics have been known to show similar gratitude to discover the Lafayette location is last remaining Popeyes location in the U.S. with a buffet. For Bourdain, the restaurant was a mere seven-minute walk from his hotel, the report said.
One reported highlight of the Parts Unknown episode, airing June 17, is when Bourdain experiences a fais-dodo under an enormous white tent in the backyard of a friend he met while filming a previous episode.
