The Louisiana International Film Festival and Mentorship Program, a new film festival celebrating Louisiana and international films, has announced a call for entries for its inaugural festival.

The Louisiana International Film Festival is scheduled for April 18-21, 2013. The festival’s first submission deadline is Jan. 7, 2013. Interested filmmakers can submit films at and at

The festival also announced its co-artistic directors, Jeff Dowd and Dan Ireland. Dowd, a movie producer and distributor, inspired the character Jeff Bridges plays in the 1998 Coen brothers movie, The Big Lebowski. Ireland has produced or directed two dozen films, including Mrs. Palfrey, The Whole Wide World and master director John Huston’s final film, The Dead.

The four-day festival opens April 18 with an opening night party in New Orleans. The festival includes competition screenings; a producers’ conference at Raleigh Film and Television Studios in Baton Rouge; an Earth Day program centered upon film and the environment at the Old State Capitol; performances by Louisiana musicians; and out-of-competition screenings of upcoming studio films.
