When floodwater rose across the greater Baton Rouge area last month, it disrupted lives and important fundraising efforts of our nonprofits. As our fall social season was just kicking into gear, numerous events had to be canceled or postponed, which greatly affected the bottom line of the nonprofit community.

With several weeks of recovery under our belts, the majority of organizations have had time to meet and figure out what to do. So, we'd like to take this opportunity to keep our readers up to date.

Habitat for Humanity's Pink Tool Belt Bash and Mid City Redevelopment Legends Luncheon have both been canceled with no dates to reschedule at this time.

Three events originally set for Aug. 13 have been rescheduled: Baton Rouge Green's Paradise Gala will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Capitol Park Museum; the Kellie Leigh Richmond Ovarian Cancer Foundation's 3rd annual Gala & Auction has been moved to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at Boudreaux's; and the Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation’s Helping Health Little Hearts with Michael Berry has been moved to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at The Varsity.

The Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame, originally set for Aug. 19, has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 28 at Boudreaux's.

The eighth annual Dining by Design event hosted by chef John Folse to benefit the Cypress Springs Mercedarian Prayer Center, originally set for Aug. 21, has been rescheduled to Oct. 30 at the Crowne Plaza beginning at 4 p.m.

Two events set for Sept. 8 have been rescheduled: the kickoff luncheon for the Bengal Belles has been moved to 11 a.m. Sept. 15 at the Belle of Baton Rouge Atrium and Cancer Services Capital Chefs' Showcase has been moved to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Crowne Plaza.

The Battle Against Autism Kickoff and Golf Tournament have been rescheduled for March 19-20.

The Baton Rouge Symphony’s Opening Night Gala, originally set for Sept. 23, has been rescheduled for Oct. 21 at the River Center Theatre Plaza following that evening's Masterworks performance.

And Trianon’s Holiday Luncheon, originally planned for Nov. 11, has been moved to 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at the L’Auberge Event Center.
