Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area fêted its many volunteers at a Feb. 3 luncheon at the Crowne Plaza. All told, the agency’s 400 volunteers provided more than $180,000 worth of service.

“You’re one of our greatest assets,” said Executive Director Barbara Auten. “Our success is your success.”

Taking home the Charlie Award, which recognizes those who dedicate an “enormous amount of time and service” to Charlie’s Place Activity & Respite Center, were Robbie Avery and Lucinda Warren. The award is named in honor of Charlie Lamar, Charlie Valluzzo and the late Charlie Spera for their tremendous support of Alzheimer’s Services..

This year’s Rosemary Award, which is given to a volunteer who has dedicated an enormous amount of time and service to Alzheimer’s Services, went to Linda Melancon and Andrea Babin. Babin was recognized for her efforts at the annual Walk/Run to Remember, which last year raised a record $334,000. Coordinator Jeri McCullough also asked everyone to mark their calendars for Oct. 10 for this year’s walk.

Honored for 20 years of volunteer service to Alzheimer’s Services were walk/run volunteers Lisa Musso and Dana Territo and board member Valluzzo. Board members Dudley Coates and Lamar and program volunteer Barbara Zellmer were honored for 15 years of service.

Program volunteer Dr. Katie Cherry and walk/run volunteers Errol Labat, Trish and Len Sedlin, Jane Trahan and Alfred Whittington were recognized for 10 years of service.

Recognized for five years of service were Janet Abernethy, Becky Antoon, Mary Carlock, Richard Davier, Tammi deGeneres, Karen Duplechin, Carol Fitch, Clay Gilbert, Ashley Juey, Ken Legleu, Lydia McMorris, Bonnie Pressler, Brittany Romig, Gina Rossi, Patricia Territo, Mary Uter, Babin and Melancon.
