One of south Baton Rouge’s newest developments is Hilltop Place, a 5-home neighborhood that is directly across street from one of south Baton Rouge’s newest schools. The new Scott Bardwell development consists of just five exclusive half-acre lots, all of which sit atop a ridge just across Lee Drive from Lee High School.
Building plans are being finalized for each remaining lot in the development, which is being marketed by KDK Capital Region Realty. New homes will be starting around $600,000, according to Heather Kirkpatrick, the KDK Capital Region Realty agent handling the property.
One Hilltop Place home has already been completed, a tall four-bedroom offering with interior design by Kenneth Brown. The home is comfortably contemporary, with wide wood plank flooring and quartz countertops in the kitchen and baths.
A brick-edged driveway and sidewalk lead up to an elevated porch, with a two-car, front-loading garage on the left side. The foyer leads directly past the stairs into a big space that comprises the formal dining room, the living room and the kitchen.
Inside the home, all interior doors are 8-foot, painted black to contrast with the lighter walls and trim. “The black color really pops,” Kirkpatrick said.
The kitchen is outfitted with 3cm Vico quartz on all the countertops, which complement the Brooklin Brick backsplashes. Cabinetry is painted, and much of it has unique brass-colored mesh fronts. The quartz island has deeply scalloped edges in the front two corners for a unique and personalized look.
Behind the kitchen is a “back kitchen,” with a beverage center and a wine rack above a wood countertop. Also back here are the home’s laundry, a mudroom/drop-off area by the exit to the two-car garage, and a small office with a built-in desk. The laundry room connects conveniently to the master closet.
The other rooms in the home’s main public area – the living room and the dining room – are delineated by massive antique beams in the ceiling. The dining room has a nine-light chandelier and two large windows to the side yard.
The living room, floored in wide wood planks, has a gas log fireplace with a stone mantle installed in shiplap that goes all the way up the wall. Shiplap is gaining in popularity, and it’s also used in this home’s master suite.
Two sets of French doors lead out of the living room onto the rear covered porch and granite outdoor kitchen. When it’s time to barbecue, fire up the new Blaze grill and cool the drinks in the mini refrigerator.
Meanwhile, just outside the master suite, there’s a bonus room that could be a home office, a library, a nursery or serve any other purpose. A short hall from this room into the master bedroom has a shiplap accent wall.
The master bedroom has wood floors, coved crown molding and three big windows to the back yard. The master bath has quartz countertops on dual vanities below custom mirrors that are installed in a shiplap wall. A dresser separates the two vanities. A unique, 6-foot, undermount tub is across from the vanities, right next to a custom tile shower. There’s only one master closet, but it’s a big one with dressers at each end
There are two more big bedrooms upstairs sharing a full bath with two vanities. The 12 x 15 foot room at the landing cold be whatever the new owner wants.
If you’d like to see this home for yourself, it will be kept open today from 2-4 p.m.
