A Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance ceremony paired with one for the crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter WHITE ALDER, which was lost in the Mississippi River near White Castle after a collision with another ship on the same day of the year, Dec. 7, 1968, as the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor that resulted in over 2,500 U.S. lives lost. The ceremonies were held at the USS KIDD Veterans Museum in Baton Rouge. Three survived the WHITE ALDER sinking, but 17 perished.
