No. 1 no more: East Carroll Parish in northeast Louisiana plunges in CNN’s latest ‘most unequal places in America’ list _lowres

Low-water conditions at Lake Providence Port draw the attention of lawmakers as they tour the port and its entrance on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012.

East Carroll Parish is no longer the most unequal place in America, according to a CNN analysis.

Last year, the news organization studied income equality across the country and found the parish’s Lake Providence area was a “stark barrier” between rich and poor. In fact, the parish ranked No. 1 on the list in 2013.

In its latest findings released Thursday, CNN found the parish sits at No. 128 in its inequality study. New York County, including the city of Manhattan, is No. 1.
