The Baton Rouge Police Department will host free self-defense classes for women in late April.
A Police Department news release says four sessions are available: April 23, April 25, April 30 and May 2.
The classes start at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. They will be held at the police academy gym at the department’s headquarters at 704 Mayflower St., the release says.
Participants must attend the first session to be eligible for subsequent sessions, and they must be at least 13 years old with no injuries, the release says.
Registration is required, and manuals for the classes cost $20, the release says.
Anyone interested in attending the classes can contact BRPD’s training academy at (225) 389-3886.
