follow-up forum on regional attendance zones: 6 p.m., Glen Oaks High School, 6650 Cedar Grove Drive. The East Baton Rouge Parish School System will hold community follow-up forums on the proposal to create four regional attendance zones for “families” of schools. The forum is free.

Community events

mlk performing arts night: 6 p.m., LSU Union Theatre, Raphael Semmes Road, LSU campus. Students will celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. through poetry, dance and musical expression. The event is free and open to the public.

basic gardening series: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd. The East Baton Rouge Parish Master Gardeners hosts a Basic Gardening Series. This week’s topic is “Garden Hand Tools — Selection, Use, Care” and “A Stroll Through the Shade Dappled Garden.” (225) 763-2240.

  • ew orleans ladies of jazz concert: 7 p.m., Baton Rouge Magnet High School, 2825 Government St. The concert is the first of three concerts in the New Orleans Ladies of Jazz concert series. It will feature Leah Chase. Participating musicians include Mike Esneault, pianist-composer, and Bobby Campo, trumpeter. Admission is $20. Proceeds will go to the school’s band program.

viola recital: 7:30 p.m., LSU School of Music Recital Hall, Dalrymple Drive, LSU campus. Recital features Elias Goldstein, Espen Lilleslatten and Sally Chisholm. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students.
