Members of the St. George Fire Department will visit the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday to tell children about fire safety and firefighting gear and equipment. Children also will have the opportunity to climb aboard a firetruck.

Parenting tips

Author and life coach Brett Quantrille will give a talk filled with biblical wisdom and practical parenting tips from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Jones Creek Regional Branch Library. A book signing for his book, “From Chaos to Peace: Hope and Direction for the Frustrated Parent,” will follow his presentation.

Dogs visit the library

Therapy dogs with LSU Tiger HATS (Human Animal Therapy Services) will be at the library from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Children will hear a reading of Jane Goodall’s “Doctor White.” The dogs will be introduced by their owners, and children will learn how the dogs help. Afterward, children will be invited to read to the dogs.

Design a space vehicle

Children can blast off to space from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the library. After hearing the story “Mousetronaut Goes to Mars” by Mark Kelly, kids will make space vehicles in this Lego Junior Maker program. The space vehicles will be on display at the library after the program.

This event is for children ages 4 to 7. Registration is required and is limited to 20 children. No groups are allowed. Call (225) 756-1160 to register.

Teen Movie Day

Teens can watch robotics whiz kid Hiro and his inflatable robot Baymax try to save the metropolis of San Fransokyo in Disney’s “Big Hero 6” from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library. Refreshments will be served.
