Streets surrounding City Park, Brooks Park and City Park Lake will close Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon for Baton Rouge Family Fit Day activities.

The streets will be used for a number of activities, including runs, pet walks, bike rides, tennis, paddle boarding, fitness classes and balloon races.

The event is part of Mayor Kip Holden’s Healthy City Initiative and is sponsored by Ochsner Health System, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Woman’s Center for Wellness and BREC.

Participants must sign a waiver to get a pass for the day and a water bottle. Registration will be set up at the Baton Rouge Gallery and the May Street Beach area.

Local traffic can still use the closed streets. Perkins Road will be open as far as the first entrance to City Park, coming from Interstate 10.
