Beginning Tuesday, Louisiana residents will be unable to purchase hunting and fishing licenses at retail stores while the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries transitions to a new sales system.

All license sales will be unavailable on Tuesday and Wednesday due to system maintenance, according to the department. License sales will continue to be unavailable at retail vendors until April 2.

During that time, license sales will be available online and at LDWF headquarters in Baton Rouge and regional offices in Monroe, Opelousas, Lake Charles and Alexandria.

LDWF said Tuesday that its new license sales system “will be much more convenient.”

Under the new system, residents will be able to reprint licenses at no cost online, and an auto renewal option will be available “down the road,” LDWF said.
