Tangipahoa and Livingston Parish schools will close on Monday, March 14 after the area saw historic floods over the weekend, according to a Tangipahoa Parish schools news release and Livingston Parish Public School Superintendent John Watson .
Though Tangipahoa schools did not receive significant water damage from the floods, several public school employees and students suffered from major damages to their homes, the new release said. Many roadways and bridges in the area also remain closed.
Livingston schools ares expected to resume classes on Tuesday, Watson said.
Tangipahoa Parish School Systems offices will remain open Monday and custodians, maintenance department employees, school food service managers, production managers and other 12-month staff should still report to work, the release said.
