A woman was found dead inside a mobile home after it was nearly destroyed by a fire Sunday morning on Queens Row, Lafayette firefighters said.

Rosalind B. Mitchell, 54, died in the fire at 342 Queens Row that officials said originated in the living room and kitchen area of the mobile home, but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, fire investigators said.

Lafayette firefighters controlled the fire within 30 minutes of their arrival to the scene, but the mobile home and the one next door were heavily damaged by the flames, KATC reported. Neighbors told firefighters that someone was inside the mobile home and Mitchell was found near the rear of the home, according to KATC.

Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office is investigating the cause of the death, KATC reported.
