GRAND ISLE – The 2014 International Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo is underway and despite heavy squalls that swept the island and surrounding waters throughout the day on Thursday, there were entries in all but seven of 29 categories.

Thousands will descend on Grand Isle this weekend for this year’s rodeo, an event that dates back to 1928 and is described by Grand Isle residents as the “oldest fishing tournament in the United States.” It runs from Thursday through Saturday.
