Tom Cruise has not finished his new movie in Baton Rouge yet, and filming for “Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back” will close North Street for most of the weekend.
North Street will be closed to traffic from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Several scenes for the movie have been shot in downtown Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Despite the road closures, the Red Stick Farmers Market and Main Street Market will still be open Saturday downtown.
Baton Rouge police will be on the scene to direct traffic downtown. The 100 through 600 blocks of North Street will be affected, and drivers will be directed to Main Street and Spanish Town Road instead.
People looking to park downtown on Friday and the weekend also will have fewer options than usual because of the upcoming filming.
From 7 a.m. on Friday to 4 p.m. on Monday, the 300 and 200 blocks of North Street will be closed to parking.
Parts of four other streets will be closed to parking from 5 p.m. on Friday through 8 p.m. on Sunday.
They are the 100, 400, 500 and 600 blocks of North Street, the 500 and 600 blocks of North 4th Street, the 500 and 600 blocks of North 3rd Street and the 500 block of Lafayette Street.
