Property taxes for East Baton Rouge Parish are due Wednesday, and after that, they will be considered delinquent and the fees will start accruing interest, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Business and property owners who owe any kind of property tax can pay online, through the mail on the address listed on their notices or in person on the second floor of City Hall, said Octave Anthaume, tax director for the Sheriff’s Office.

Any taxes paid after Dec. 31 will begin to add value by 1 percent per month over the next six months, Anthaume said, and that’s before the parish begins to try to sell the property, if necessary.

The Tax Office collects about $350 million annually in property taxes for East Baton Rouge Parish, according to the agency’s website.
