A Baton Rouge teenager accused of firing randomly into a large crowd on La Margie Avenue, killing one person and wounding another, was indicted Thursday on murder and attempted murder charges.

An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury charged Brandon Boyd, 18, with second-degree murder in the March 18 shooting death of Emanuelle Myles, 24. Myles was shot in the head.

Boyd, 12301 La Margie Ave., also was indicted on an attempted second-degree murder charge in the wounding of a 19-year-old man. That man was shot in the arm.

Boyd, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, could be sentenced to life in prison without parole if convicted of second-degree murder.

Baton Rouge police have said a large crowd — Boyd and Myles included — had gathered in a parking lot at 12625 La Margie to watch four people, including the 19-year-old victim, fight.

Boyd pulled out a handgun at some point during the fight and fired multiple shots into the crowd, hitting Myles and the 19-year-old, police said.

Boyd knew two of the people involved in the fight, according to police.

Boyd’s case has been assigned to state District Judge Don Johnson.
