A Baton Rouge man accused of firing randomly into a large crowd on La Margie Avenue two years ago, killing a 24-year-old man, was found guilty Friday of second-degree murder.
An East Baton Rouge Parish jury deliberated for about four hours before voting 10-2 to convict Brandon Boyd, 19, in the March 18, 2014, slaying of Emanuelle Myles, of Baton Rouge.
Boyd, who was 17 at the time, could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Boyd and Myles were among those who had gathered in a parking in the 12000 block of La Margie to watch four people fight, police have said. At some point during the fight, Boyd — who knew two of those involved in the fight — pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, police stated. A 19-year-old man also was shot in the arm.
State District Judge Beau Higginbotham presided over Boyd’s trial.
