A 33-year-old woman died and her three passengers — including two infants — were injured when their car crossed the center line on LA 955 in East Feliciana Parish and struck and 18-wheeler Monday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.
Kristy Weatherman, of Baton Rouge, was traveling westbound on LA 955 in a Chrysler Town and Country around 10 a.m. when her vehicle crossed the center line and hit the rear axle of an eastbound International 18-wheeler, Trooper First Class Bryan Lee wrote in a press release. The truck driver, Fredric Jones, 56, of Osyka, Mississippi, was uninjured.
Lee said troopers have not determined why Weatherman veered from her lane, west of LA 19.
Weatherman, who had been wearing her seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by East Feliciana Parish Coroner's Office.
Her unrestrained 22-year-old passenger was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained moderate injuries. Two infants in the vehicle were properly restrained, but have moderate injuries, Lee said.
Jones had been wearing a seat belt, Lee said.
Louisiana State Police do not suspect impairment was a factor in the crash, but both drivers will be tested.
