The Voices of Hope Gospel Singers of Baton Rouge is sponsoring “Standing Strong in Sickle Cell,” a gospel concert honoring families affected by sickle cell disease, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Nazarene Baptist Church, 1707 Spanish Town Road.

Painting seminar deadline

March 4 is the deadline to sign up for the Magnolia Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters’ yearly beginner’s seminar, slated from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 16. The location will be announced at a later date.

Participants will learn the basics of decorative painting on an angel project in acrylics.
