Anyone evacuating to a Red Cross shelter should bring essential items for each member of the family, Red Cross officials said.

Those items include prescriptions and emergency medications, foods that meet unusual dietary requirements, identification to show a residence is in an affected area and important personal documents, hygiene supplies and other comfort items, and supplies for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys.

Those headed to shelters should also bring special items for family members who are elderly or disabled and chargers for electronic devices, Red Cross officials said.
